With his FALL WINTER 2017-2018 collection, Andrea Mondin developes a new theme that takes inspiration from the hat world and in particular from the America costum of the ‘40s and ‘50s.
The JOAN model is a creation born by the collaboration between Andrea Mondin and an Italian artist, known for his hat creations. The Sabot JOAN, 105 heel, shows a wide side structure with a brimmed hat shape decorated with feathers that keep the traditional tip of the coquetips feather, typical of the ‘40s and ‘50s hats. In the working process, the designer and the couturier use artisan skills such as the manual modelling of the brim on a custom-made wood shape.
Then they put the decoration on the tomaia, and in the end, when the shoe is done, they remodel it in order to have the same rigidity as the hats. The decoration stands out by the use of specific materials such as the felt and the gros grain. The name of the shoe is taken from the famous actress Joan Crawford and in particular from the new and austere lines of the ‘40s Hollywood tailoring. In this specific history time the hat is an accessory that every woman must have in her wardrobe.
The KATE Sandal presents a ruche motif that reminds the horse-hair decorations that were put on the female hairstyles in that years.
The Sabot COLETTE, the Sandalo ALLY and the Ciabattina GISELLE present a pois fishnet ruff.
The Ciabattina GISELLE and the Stivaletto COLETTE complete the collection with a taupe and ochre rhombus fabric.
The last model in the collection is the Sandalo LUCY with a suede ruff on the heel.
As in his first collection, the designer uses warm and precious tapestry fabrics from the French company Nobilis Paris. The colour chart is intimate and essential. The black, the ochre yellow and the dove-grey tones are inspired by the interior works of the London artist, Jeremiah Goodman.
